MINNEAPOLIS — Demolition of the Minnesota Vikings’ stadium isn’t expected to begin until early 2014. But already fans have their sights on scrap souvenirs.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which operates the Metrodome, said it has received more than 50 requests for seats, signs, turf and other mementoes. Authority chairwoman Michele Kelm-Helgen said the requests vary.
The community of Perham wants rows of seats to create a VIP section at its own ballpark. The Chanhassen Athletic Association has requested some turf and the dugouts. Kelm-Helgen said there are also individual requests for a special seat associated with a marriage proposal or first date.
