A free voice and performance workshop for community actors will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway in Albert Lea.
Leading the workshop are Luverne Seifert and Darcey Engen, co-artistic directors of a traveling theater collaborative, according to a press release.
The workshop will explore creating comedic characters through games, clowning techniques and improvisation, along with practical voice exercises. All ability levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Immediately following the workshop will be auditions for an upcoming show. Roles will be cast for “The Visit,” which will be presented at the Freeborn County Historical Village in July.
Audience members will be led to various buildings where they will watch scenes unfold. Rehearsals and performances will all be between July 22 and July 28.
Eight to 10 actors are needed, ages 16 and older, to perform speaking roles alongside professional actors from the Guthrie Theater, Children’s Theatre, Ten Thousand Things and others.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through and appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the State’s arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.
