EASTON — Sheriff’s officials say one person has died in the crash of a small plane in Faribault County.
Deputies were called to a field south of Easton near the intersection of 480th Avenue and 165th Street at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after dispatchers received a 911 call of a witness who saw the plane crash, said Faribault County Sheriff Mike Gormley.
The male pilot, whose name has not been released, reportedly died at the scene.
Gormley said the man was alone in the experimental aircraft and there is no indication why the plane crashed.
The Federal Aviation Administration will begin investigating this morning, and a full autopsy of the pilot will be conducted, Gormley said.
Easton first responders, Wells ambulance crews, the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo One medical helicopter crews responded.
The pilot’s name is expected to be released today. Read the Tribune for additional details.
