The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team lost a Big Nine Conference match Friday at Austin 4-3.
After losing the first three singles matches, the Tigers reeled off three straight wins.
“Once again, we had an exciting, hard-fought match that came down to the last couple of points,” Albert Lea head coach Tom Dyrdal said.
Cole Keyeski was the only Albert Lea player to win a singles match, but No. 1 Trevor Herfindahl and No. 3 Darik Weigel took their opponents to three sets each.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kyle Zogg and Carter Dahl won along with Albert Lea’s No. 2 duo Josh Martin and Collin Jahnke.
Albert Lea played nearly half the conference this week. The Tigers played Winona, Rochester Mayo, Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall and Austin.
“Although our guys were tired from playing matches every day this week, we gave a great effort once again,” Dyrdal said.
