Here are highlights in history for Feb. 25, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — The Freeborn County jail passed the annual inspection conducted by the Minnesota Department of Corrections for the fifth year.

1977 — About $1,000 worth of young trees were reportedly destroyed by snowmobilers. These trees had been planted by the city’s park department near the corner of West Main Street and U.S. Highway 69.

1957 — This issue of the Tribune had advertisements from Knutsen Chevrolet Co., Olson Motors, Tyrholm Ford Co., Seliger Motor Co. and Motor Inn Inc. (Of these firms, only Motor Inn is still active.)
