Members of the Freeborn County Republican Party will gather this weekend to hear national GOP committeewoman Janet Beihoffer speak.

Beihoffer won a vote of the Minnesota Republican Party’s central committee last year to become the group’s female representative on the Republican National Committee. She is in the second of a four-year term.

She is retired from a career at IBM and teaches management information systems part time at Metropolitan State University. She served as the director of election operations in Minnesota for the state GOP in 2010 and was the party chairwoman for the 2nd Congressional District in 2008 and 2009.

Each state has a chairperson, committeeman and committeewoman representing them on the Republican National Committee. Jeff Johnson, a Hennepin County commissioner, is the Minnesota committeeman, and Keith Downey, a former state representative, is the state chairman.

The meeting of the Freeborn County Republicans is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pizza Ranch in Northbridge Mall. There will also be “a recognition of legendary members,” according to a flier.
