The Salvation Army will celebrate its fourth annual Doughnut Days on Friday and Saturday as part of National Salvation Army Week.
National Doughnut Day honors the Salvation Army men of World War II who were sent to the front lines of Europe to provide home cooked foods and to boost troop morale. It is also used as a fundraiser for needy causes of the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army in Albert Lea has set a goal of raising $20,000 and is looking for volunteers for many locations around Albert Lea for both days.
The donations collected will help fund needed services provided to local residents.
Volunteers will be given a doughnut box and much like Christmas bell ringing will politely ask for contributions.
The Salvation Army is also asking businesses, clubs and organizations to be a part of a $10,000 match.
To sign up as a volunteer or to be a part of the $10,000 match call the Salvation Army at 373-5710 or stop by the Albert Lea citadel at 302 Court St.
