Motorists traveling on U.S. Highway 65 in Albert Lea will encounter a detour beginning Monday as crews work to install a box culvert under the highway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The project, from South Shore Drive to Myers Road in Albert Lea, is expected to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.
The detour route is Myers Road to 14th Street to Margaretha Avenue (Freeborn County Road 48) and then back to Highway 65.
Department of Transportation officials urge motorists to drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
