BLOOMING PRAIRIE– Kalli Van Ryswyk scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Friday, but it wasn’t enough as the Blooming Prairie Blossoms girls’ basketball team eliminated the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines 48-42 in the second round of the Section 1A tournament.

Kailey Davis and Emily Belshan also scored eight points a piece.

“We had our chances,” Glenville-Emmons coach Lisa Ziebell said.

In the second half, the Wolverines were down by as many as 19 points. Ziebell then switched to a full court defense that caused several Blooming Prairie turnovers as Glenville-Emmons cut the lead to two points as the Blossoms led 43-41 with two minutes left in the game.

Robyn Roe then went to the line and made one of two free throws to cut the lead to one.

That would be all the closer they got as Blooming Prairie held on for the 48-42 win.

The Wolverines shot 34 percent on the night and went 4-14 from the three point line.

Glenville-Emmons ends the season with a 16-8 record.

The Wolverines also will graduate seven seniors off this years squad as Kailey Davis, Alayna Hall, Emily Belshan, Tami Wallin, Robyn Roe, Devin Cooper and Kalli Van Ryswyk all played their last game for the Wolverines on Friday.

“These girls’ have accomplished a lot,” Ziebell said. ” They won the West Division of the Southeast Conference. It’s the first time a Glenville-Emmons girls basketball team won the west division outright.”
