A hospital administrator has advanced his career at another hospital.

Steve Underdahl, who was vice president of operations at Mayo Clinic Health Systems at Albert Lea and Austin, has been named the new president and CEO of Northfield Hospital & Clinics, according to a Northfield news release.

He formally accepted the board of directors’ offer earlier this month and will begin his new job June 11.

Adam Rees resigned as the Austin and Albert Lea hospital’s chief administrative officer earlier this year to become president of Essentia Health’s central region, which is based in Brainerd.

Underdahl served as hospital administrator for the Albert Lea hospital from 1999 to 2012. He has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Bethel College. His background includes work in the area of chemical dependency treatment.
