Funeral services for Robert “Bob” James Weigel of Glenville, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Kassera will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea area veterans organizations.
Bob died Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. He was 69 years of age. He was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Freeborn County, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Giles) Weigel. He graduated from Albert Lea High School and vocational training as a mechanic. He served his country for two years serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
On Nov. 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda Jacobson. Bob worked for 30 years at Wilson & Co. in Albert Lea, 13 of those years as maintenance supervisor. He started Stateline Storage and Bob’s Clean Sweep and worked at many miscellaneous jobs. He was a member of AA for more than 40 years. Bob was a best provider and his family always came first. Bob enjoyed camping and the outdoors with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda of Glenville; children Douglas Weigel of Albert Lea, Kevin (Jackie) Weigel of Austin and Cassandra (Todd) Boettcher of Albert Lea; grandchildren include Darian Weigel, Darik Weigel, Jaydon Weigel, Robert Weigel ll, Paige Weigel, Katie Boettcher, Anna Boettcher and Aaron Boettcher. There are two brothers, Larry Weigel of Glenville and Fred (Robin) Weigel of Albert Lea; one sister, Julie (Harlan) Latusek of Wells; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Weigel; and granddaughter, Natasha Weigel.
