MINNEAPOLIS — Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is not just for Lutherans anymore.
The Minneapolis-based company is dropping its Lutheran requirement and opening its membership and business services to all Christians.
The not-for-profit confirmed Thursday that 72 percent of the nearly 425,000 Thrivent members who cast their votes in March voted yes to revising the organization’s articles of incorporation.
About 21 percent of Thrivent’s total membership voted on the measure, more than executives had anticipated.
The company said the change likely will start at the beginning of 2014.
Thrivent’s name will be changed to just “Thrivent.”
Thrivent is a fraternal benefit society and a Fortune 500 company that provides a full range of banking, investment and insurance products.
