Marvin M. Schultz, 78, of Wells, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at his home from esophageal/stomach cancer. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells with the Rev. Thomas Niehaus officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Marvin M. Schultz was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Clark Township, the eighth of nine children born to August V. and Clara (Kulla) Schultz. A lifelong resident of Faribault County, Marvin attended Maple Grove country school and St. Casimir Catholic School and was a 1953 graduate of Wells High School. Marv was a four-sport athlete who excelled especially as a baseball pitcher. He played football at Mankato State University. He served two years in the U.S. Army, training at Fort Hood, Texas, as part of the 24th Armored Engineering Division and was honorably discharged in 1956. Marv returned to the family farm and remained actively involved in agriculture all his life. On April 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Kathleen A. Ostendorf in Waseca. Marvin was a lifelong member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. He loved farming, fellowship and especially “relaxation hour” with family and friends. He enjoyed all the farm dogs that were his companions through the years. He also appreciated nature and wildlife, especially eagles, sharing his admiration of them with his grandchildren.

Marv was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man whose actions spoke louder than words.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy, of Wells; five children, Jeff (Kaprice) Schultz of Wells, Melissa (Brian) Barth of Byron, Joyce (Ron) Yarborough of Mountain Home, Ariz., Rebecca (Chuck) Stevermer of Easton and Joseph (Sarah) Schultz of Eau Claire, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden and Kiera Schultz, Alexis and Luke Barth, Will, Megan and Nathan Yarborough and Trent, Jacob, Mason and Riley Stevermer; five siblings, Arnold Schultz and Loretta Brummer, both of Wells, Teresa Oelke of Blue Earth, Lorraine Horvat of Austin and Jean Ann (Dean) Clarke of Lakeville; sister-in-law, Sharon Schultz of Wells; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mike and Jim Schultz; sister, Maxine Westrum; and in-laws, Edith, John, Wayne, Phillip and Lynn.
