CLARKS GROVE — When Krystle Davis and her husband, Kyle, moved to Clarks Grove, they went looking for a hobby.
“We wanted something to do together in the community,” Davis said.
That decision led to her becoming the only woman in the Clarks Grove Fire Department.
The couple has been together for three years and got married almost a year ago after Kyle returned from a deployment with the Minnesota National Guard. The Davises decided to become volunteer firefighters. Since making that decision, Davis has decided to become a first responder instead.
Neither have gone through training yet but are able to respond to calls for help with paperwork and other tasks that don’t involve touching patients. Her husband hasn’t decided whether to become a volunteer firefighter or a first responder yet.
Davis has been a full-time massage therapist for six years and is employed at Kristin’s Therapeutic Body Massage in Austin. She also teaches a dance fitness class on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Oak Park Mall in Austin.
Davis and her husband are both originally from Albert Lea. Davis moved around a while after college but came back to the area when her and her husband found a house in Clarks Grove. The couple is currently working on their big summer project, building a garage. They recently also purchased a camper and Davis got a motorcycle.
“I just love being outside,” Davis said.
When she’s not working or responding to emergency calls, Davis can be found fishing, riding motorcycle, or giving attention to her pet birds, Gurtty and Chester.
