HIBBING — A 35-year-old special education teacher from Hibbing said he’s running for Minnesota governor as a Republican.
Rob Farnsworth said he intends to seek the GOP endorsement to challenge Democratic incumbent Mark Dayton next year.
Farnsworth is making his second run for political office. In 2010, he sought Republican endorsement to run against then-U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, but dropped out when Chip Cravaack won the GOP nod.
Farnsworth describes Cravaack as a model. He said like Cravaack, he, too, would bring a strong union background to the race.
The father of three said he also wants to reform education.
