Dorothy Van Ness, 79, of Glenville, died quickly from Alzheimer’s on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. Memorial services will be at a later date.
Dorothy was born on March 26, 1934, in Freemond Township to Myron and Mable (Nagel) Perkins. In her first marriage to Orice Gavle, two daughters were born before his death in the mid-1970s. She was a housewife, spent time throughout life as a meat packer and attended Round Prairie Lutheran Church.
On Dec. 1, 1978, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Daryl Van Ness in Reno, Nev. Dorothy and Daryl met in 1977 in California and after their retirement the two moved from the San Francisco Bay area to the Sacramento area. In July of 2013 Daryl bought her grandmother’s house in Glenville where the two were able to live for a short time. She loved pheasant hunting and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Daryl; two daughters; three grandchildren; and a sister, Ramona Wubben of Milaca.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Orice.
