Bricelyn man dead following head-on collision

A 55-year-old Bricelyn man died early Friday evening after a head-on collision south of Faribault County Road 16 between Bricelyn and Wells.

According to a Faribault County Sheriff’s Office news release, the collision occurred at 4:50 p.m. Friday south of County Road 16 on 560th Avenue and involved two vehicles.

David Douglas Mutschler, of Bricelyn, the driver of one of the automobiles, was pronounced dead on scene due to injuries he sustained during the collision, the release stated.

Matthew Wood, 17, the driver of the second automobile, a van, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He has since been released.

Susan Wood, of rural Wells, who was a backseat passenger in the van, was also transported to St. Marys Hospital by helicopter.

A second teenager, Dylan Thisius, 17, who was a passenger in the van, was treated and released.

The wreck is under routine investigation by the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.

No other information was available as of press time.

Agencies assisting were the Wells Police Department, the Wells Fire Department, Walters First Responders, Kiester Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol, Kiester Fire Department and Wells Ambulance.
