Evelyn Sime, 88, Bloomington

Evelyn Sime, 88, of Bloomington, formerly of Kiester, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington in Bloomington. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate and burial will take place in Our Savior’s Cemetery in Kiester.
Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Ellendale, the daughter of Gelbert and Emma (Jansen) Thorson. She attended grammar school in a one room school house. She graduated from Ellendale High School and Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. On June 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Sylvan “Sib” Sime in Ellendale. Evelyn was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. She was a Church Circle Member and she served as a church circle secretary. Evelyn was a full-time mom. She also worked as a secretary to the president of First National Bank of Kiester. Evelyn enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, listening to music and the Minnesota Twins.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Jerald Sime of Kiester; three daughters: Wendy Sime of Kiester, Patti and husband, Tom Morley, of Bloomington, and DeeAnn Sime of Golden Valley; two grandchildren: Colin and Tyler Morley of Minneapolis; a sister, Jureme Youtzy of Custer, S.D.; and a sister-in-law, E. Marjorie Fjone of Kiester. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvan; two sisters: Hazel and Nora; and two brothers: Alonzo and Ira.
