Beatrice Olson, 94, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Beatrice Olson will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Al Stoa will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea.

Beatrice Olson died on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 94 years old.

Beatrice was born on Jan. 21, 1919, in New Richland to Butler and Caia (Strenge) Johnson. She attended Berlin Grade School in Steele County and graduated from New Richland High School. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Chester Olson in New Richland. After marriage they farmed for a short time and settled in Albert Lea in the late 1940s.

Beatrice was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where she was a member of the Mission Circle. She worked for Streater for many years, retiring in 1982. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she was past president.

Beatrice enjoyed reading, cooking and camping and could be seen walking the Blazing Star Trail until age 90. She loved God, her family and life itself. She will always be remembered for her warm, shining smile.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Olson of Albert Lea; brother, Woodrow Johnson of New Richland; and several nieces and nephews.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, Butler and Caia; husband, Chester; and sisters, Gilma Johnson and Evelyn Hanson.
