ST. PAUL — Minnesota state senators are scheduled to vote Monday on a $30,000 settlement that ends a lawsuit brought by an ex-aide who was fired over his affair with the majority leader.
The Senate Rules and Administration Committee, which is made up of the chamber’s most prominent members, will meet to review and likely approve the settlement. The agreement was announced on Thursday, halting a fight with former GOP communications aide Michael Brodkorb that had already led to $300,000 in Senate legal fees.
He sued claiming he was wrongly fired when his affair with then-Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch surfaced. According to Senate leaders, Brodkorb acknowledges he would have trouble proving his discrimination claims. The Senate is dropping a motion for sanctions against his attorneys for an accidental release of sealed documents.
