GRAND MEADOW — Owners of a mink farm near Grand Meadow are scrambling to catch their critters after someone allegedly went on the property and let the animals out of their enclosures.

The owners reported the crime to the Mower County Sheriff’s Office and said it happened between Sunday night and Monday morning at their property just east of Grand Meadow on Highway 16.

According to the report, many mink are still missing, though no figure is listed in the report. Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said releasing of mink has happened before.
