TWIN LAKES — Fall is a time for pumpkins and enjoying the last opportunities to be outside before yet another cold Minnesota winter. White Woods County Park provides people with an opportunity to view the fall colors on October fair-weather days.
The park is a mile south of Twin Lakes on Highway 69. This 176-acre park next to Lower Twin Lake was once a farm and has been allowed to revert back to a natural woodland and prairie.
The park has two picnic pavilions, horseshoe pits restrooms and multiple trails that cut through the woods. The park is under the jurisdiction of the Freeborn County Highway Department.
The park is great for hiking, running, bird watching and picnicking. During the winter months it’s a great place for snowshoeing or cross country skiing. It’s rural location means that you will more than likely be one of the few people there, if not the only one.
There is a $10 fee for reserving the large pavilions at three of the parks. For further information or for reservations call 507-377-5188.
