Albert Lea police have arrested a 24-year-old man believed to have committed an armed burglary Sunday night.
The Albert Lea Police Department sent out a plea to the public just prior to 4 p.m. Tuesday asking for help in finding Trouper Montgomery Gilbertson of Albert Lea.
The news release stated police believed Gilbertson was armed and dangerous, and people were encouraged to dial 911 if they saw him.
Police were looking for Gilbertson after receiving a report of a burglary at 9:07 p.m. Sunday at 411 Commercial St. The caller stated he had found Gilbertson in his house with a gun.
Gilbertson, who is an acquaintance of the caller, allegedly fled the house with the gun prior to officers arrived.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the release stated the Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol searched several locations but had not yet found him.
The Police Department stated at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday that Gilbertson had been taken into custody. How and where he was arrested were unclear.
