ST. PAUL — Minnesotans are expected to get their first look at how many people have purchased health insurance so far through the new online exchange.
The board of directors for MNsure meets today. The MNsure website launched two weeks ago to deliver health insurance changes under the federal overhaul. MNsure officials have promised information about enrollment after delays caused by technological problems.
Enrollment numbers have been slow to come in nationally as well. Some states like Kentucky and New York have reported rapid early enrollment, while others have reported only a trickle so far.
Coverage purchased on the exchange will kick in on Jan. 1, and the uninsured will face penalties starting March 31. Many uninsured people will qualify for federal tax subsidies to help pay for insurance.
