The National Weather Service forecast says there is a 40 percent chance of snow overnight and a 30 percent chance of snow tonight.

KIMT-TV meteorologists say Albert Leans can expect morning flurries, which means brief, light snow.

So what’s going on?

A weak storm system is expected to move across the Minnesota River Valley and Sioux Falls, S.D., and areas between, tonight. With below-normal temperatures this week, the storm system won’t be delivering the wet stuff. It will bring the white stuff.

Albert Lea won’t be at the center. It more likely will be at the eastern edge of the area to get snow, according to a National Weather Service map that explains the weather.

The high for Tuesday is forecast to be 44 degrees with northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph.

Snow is not in the forecast the rest of the work week. Neither is rain. The National Weather Service forecasts the high for Wednesday to be 43 degrees.

However, the Albert Lea forecast does call for a 20 percent chance of rain and snow on Saturday.

In Duluth, snow showers are in the forecast for much of the week and parts of northern Minnesota.

Measurable snow fell Sunday to the north of the Twin Ports. The community of Askov in Pine County got the most with 5 inches. A little more than 2 inches of snow is on the ground in Pine City. Lesser amounts of snow was recorded at Barnum, Bruno and Hayward, Wis.
