61-year-old arrested, taken to Faribault County jail
KIESTER — A 61-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after police found two illegal weapon silencers during a raid of his home two miles southwest of Kiester.
Michael Mixon was taken to the Faribault County jail, and charges are pending, according to the Mankato Free Press.
The newspaper stated a search warrant was executed at Mixon’s home at about 7:15 p.m. by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the South Central Drug Investigative Unit’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team, including members from Freeborn, Waseca, Faribault and Steele counties.
Faribault County Sheriff Mike Gormley told KEYC News 12 that Mixon did not fight his arrest and that there were no injuries.
Authorities were looking for an illegal automatic weapon and silencers but found only the silencers, the Free Press stated. Mixon’s address was not immediately known.
Gormley did not return multiple calls from the Albert Lea Tribune.
Gormley told the TV news station that fully automatic weapons or silencers are not legal unless there is proper paperwork through the ATF.
