A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after he reportedly led authorities on a high-speed chase near Amboy and then crashed into the Blue Earth River.
Amboy Police Chief Kyle Hubert said an officer attempted to pull over Robert Raphael Schultz for having a headlight out along U.S. Highway 169 and Minnesota Highway 30.
Schultz is believed to be from the Wells or Minnesota Lake area.
Officers later discovered Schultz did not have a valid driver’s license and that he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Hubert said Schultz led authorities on a 12-mile chase starting right outside of Amboy and ending when he went through a field and crashed into the Blue Earth River. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Mankato where he was treated for his injuries.
Schultz is being held in the Blue Earth County jail pending charges.
