MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Simpson was being held Saturday without bail at the Hennepin County jail, according to the online roster. He was arrested by the Minnesota State Patrol and booked at 5:39 a.m. local time.

Simpson leads the Vikings with 491 yards receiving. He’s on his second one-year contract with the team after playing his first three NFL seasons in Cincinnati. There, he spent 15 days in jail for a felony drug conviction tied to a marijuana shipment to his home. The NFL suspended him for three games last year for that.

The Vikings say they are “continuing to gather information” and will comment further “at the appropriate time.”

The Vikings beat Washington on Thursday, so players have the weekend off.
