1960s to return to the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center stage

Classic tunes of the 1960s from female artists will be featured at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center this weekend.

The Sirens of the ’60s concert will be performed by Colleen Raye, Debbie O’Keefe and Katie Gearty. The show celebrates the vocals of singers Dionne Warwick, Barbra Streisand and Tammy Wynette, among others.

The show is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $18 and are available at the theater box office.

Friday

• The FFA Alumni Association hosts a burger basket fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Albert Lea American Legion. Cost is $8 per person. Tickets can be purchased from any FFA member or at the door. Fruit orders will be taken at the event, too.

• St. Theodore Catholic Church will hold a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children age 5 to 12 and free for those younger than 5. Menu includes fish, chicken strips, baked or mashed potatoes, cole slaw, rolls and a beverage. There will be a build-your-own sundae bar, a bake sale and a Perkins pie fundraiser.

• Christ Episcopal Church in Albert Lea will host a wine tasting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The $5 donation for attendees goes to charity.

• Students at Alden-Conger School present Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. A pork loin dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the show are $13 for adults and $11 for students and senior citizens. Tickets for the show only are $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.

 

Saturday

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the Northbridge Mall.

• A Christmas Tour of Homes will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at three homes, a bed and breakfast and the Freeborn County Historical Museum. Tickets are $15, can be purchased at the museum and help the museum’s fundraising efforts.

• Students at Alden-Conger School present Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. A pork loin dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the show are $13 for adults and $11 for students and senior citizens. Tickets for the show only are $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.

 

Sunday

• The Albert Lea chapter of TTT hosts a Dad’s Belgian waffle breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church. Cost is $7, and children 5 and younger eat free.

• Albert Lea’s Masonic Lodge hosts an amaranth pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverage. Donations will be accepted and funds raised go to scholarships for local youth. Albert Lea’s cross country team members will wait tables.

• Trinity Lutheran Church hosts a crumble burger and root beer float fundrasier from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funds raised help the church’s youth group, which is planning a trip to the Boundary Waters in 2014.

• The Albert Lea Community Band will host its fall concert at 1:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. There will be a variety of music. Donations will be accepted and a reception with treats will follow the concert.
