Dwain West, 87, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Dwain Leroy West of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea area veterans organizations.
Dwain died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 87 years of age.
Dwain was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Galena, Ill., the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Fox) West. He attended public school in Albert Lea. On Aug. 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Olson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Dwain had been employed at Olson Manufacturing, Queen Stoves and retired after many years at Bridon Cordage. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper while stationed in Japan.
In his free time he enjoyed horses, fishing, hunting, trapshooting, reading and watching sports on TV.
Dwain is survived by his children Carolyn (Larry) Will of Omaha and Jennifer Lorentzen of Albert Lea; grandchildren Jan Frechette, Deborah (James Frederickson) Will, Jodi Johannsen, Matthew (Tammie) Will and Julie Goodmanson; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. One sister survives, Isabelle Renter, of Lena, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; grandson, Jay Leroy Lorentzen; and great-grandson, Leighton Will Frederickson.
