MINNEAPOLIS — The remarkable winning streak by the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team stretched over three seasons, 62 games and included a national championship run.
But, the longest streak in college hockey ended Sunday afternoon at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis when North Dakota defeated the women Gophers 3-2. Hockey fans cheered as North Dakota rushed the ice. And there was extra applause for the Gophers to mark their extraordinary accomplishment.
Gophers coach Brad Frost paused in the tunnel leading to the locker room as he soaked in the moment.
