Evelyn Peterson, 90, of Austin

Evelyn  Peterson, 90, of Austin, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Prairie Manor Care Center, Blooming Prairie. Evelyn Louise Dunbar was born March 5, 1921, in Austin to Harold and Ethel (Bergstrom) Dunbar. She attended Austin Public Schools and graduated from Austin High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in various cleaning positions. On Jan. 1, 1941, she married Lesley Peterson at her family home in Moscow and together they farmed in the Oakland area until Lesley’s death in 1990. A lifelong resident of the Austin area, Evelyn moved to St. Marks Apartments in September of 2006. Evelyn was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening, camping, and stamping.

She is survived by sons: Robert (Karen) Peterson, Austin, and Jeffrey (Jane) Peterson, Austin; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sister, Ruth (Ray) Porter, Albert Lea. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lesley; daughter, Sharon McFarland; three sons: Jhan Peterson, Harold Peterson and Jason Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian church with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Lindahl officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
