Lake Mills head volleyball coach Jim Boehmer didn’t want to face Forest City this early in the season with the inexperienced bunch he has, but after Tuesday night many of his concerns must have disappeared.
The Bulldogs swept the rival Indians 25-12, 25-11, 25-21 in what turned out to be a runaway victory.
“We went on long runs to build leads early in each game,” Boehmer said. “I was unsure of what to expect tonight. The girls played well for the first night out. I am very proud of them for their energy and effort tonight.”
Serving was a big part of the victory as Lake Mills tallied 12 ace serves as a team. Amanda Lampman went 17-for-18 from the line and had three aces. Josie Brackey added four aces and Morgan Fjelstad three.
Brackey, Lampman and Lindy Pins all had seven kills to lead the team.
Fjelstad led the team with 23 assists.
