ST. PAUL — GOP businessman Scott Honour made the most but also paid the most in taxes last year among the 2014 candidates for governor.

Honour released his tax return Tuesday. The investor and now full-time candidate earned more than $1.7 million. According to his campaign he paid a combined $783,000 in federal, state and local taxes. He donated about $79,000 to charity.

Among other Republicans and their spouses:

• Hennepin County Commissioner reported $227,000 in earnings and $55,000 in taxes.

• Rep. Kurt Zellers offered a summary showing $116,000 in earnings and $18,000 in taxes paid.

• Sen. Dave Thompson had income of $198,000 and a total tax bill of about $40,000.

• Ex-Rep. Marty Seifert said he won’t release tax data.

Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton said he paid about $89,000 on earnings of $343,000 last year.
