PINE CITY — Sheriff’s officials say they’ve made an arrest in a threat that evacuated the Pine County Courthouse.
A 45-year-old man, suspected of mailing several envelopes of white powder to the courthouse, has been taken into custody.
The East Central Violent Offenders Task Force and the FBI had already targeted the Braham man who they suspected planted several fake bombs at various locations in the county.
Authorities say the envelopes of powder were mailed to the sheriff, two deputies, two judges and the county attorney last month. The powder tested negative for substances used in bioterrorism. Investigators say the man’s goal was to cause fear.
