Thanks for community involvement

The Arc of Freeborn County would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to everyone who was involved in the success of our soup and chili supper. Hats off to those who donated cupcakes, to Arc members and friends who gave the precious gift of their time and to all who came out and ate. And finally, we would like to especially thank Albert Lea Branch of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for supporting this event through their Care Abounds in Communities Program. Proceeds from the supper will be used to continue our programs and activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families here in Freeborn County. A party to be proud of

A heartfelt, sincere thank you goes out to all the kind and generous people who shared their love and support for us at the Doug Herr Family Benefit on Nov. 22. We are very appreciative toward our family and friends for all their hard work in putting the benefit together. We are exceptionally grateful for all who volunteered their time to work the benefit, to all the generous donations for the silent and live auctions, for all the yummy baked goods and all who attended our benefit with their kind words and willingness to help out. The outreach among family, friends, neighbors and the community was very touching and heartwarming.

Seeing this all come together was absolutely amazing! When this benefit was planned, Doug was to be there. In spirit he was, with all the smiles and laughter. He would have just loved the great party we had in honor of him and so proud of all of you for your support given to us. The love and friendship that night meant so much to us at this time of need. We are so thankful for your generosity, loving thoughts and kind prayers.

A special thank you comes from our hearts; to each and everyone, we extend our deep appreciation for all you have done.

Boating season was a success

The Pelican Breeze Foundation along with its crew members would like to thank all those who supported the boat this past season. We appreciated the more than 1,000 passengers this past summer. Our passengers included people from several states and countries. In addition to our public cruises, 26 private cruises were made.

A special thank you goes to all those who provided additional financial support. They were Farmers State Bank, US Bank, Hill Larson, Walth & Benda, Americana Insurance, Mike Rogness, Freeborn Mower Cooperate Operation Roundup, Mayo Clinic Foundation, Convention & Visitors Bureau grant and Security Bank.

All this gave us a very successful 2013 season. The crew members of the Pelican Breeze are looking forward to providing enjoyable cruises in 2014 to all our passengers in 2014.
