MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota Police are looking at ways to protect students after a spike in crime on and near campus.
The university issued a crime alert Monday for an attempted robbery that happened Sunday while a student was studying inside the Carlson School of Management.
Campus police call Monday’s incident a rare case since it occurred inside a campus building in broad daylight. That’s raising concerns about the open access the public has to the campus.
Deputy Chief Chuck Miner said the university may have to create more physical barriers to getting into some of the buildings.
Many campus buildings are already card-access only.
