AUSTIN — South Central Minnesota Youth for Christ has announced it will move into the building at 400 Third Ave. NW in Austin.
The area Youth for Christ has been eyeing a location in Austin, and a little more than a week ago City Life Director Rick Miller released details about the potential for a drop-in center in Austin. Youth for Christ, an organization set on helping young people with both faith and everyday life problems, already has a location in Albert Lea called The Rock, of which some Austinites use, Miller said.
People expressed interest in starting a facility in Austin where the City Life program can help youth learn about Jesus Christ, along with other responsible, positive life choices. A full-time director would be on staff to oversee the building and operations, but the program would mainly be run with help from adult and youth volunteers.
Youth for Christ seeks $225,000 in donations to not only purchase the building, but make renovations and cover operating expenses for the first year.
Donations can be made at scmyfc.org, by calling 373-1015 or mailing to the administration office; South Central Minnesota Youth For Christ, 116 W. Clark St. Albert Lea, MN 56007. Please note Austin on the memo line. All donations are tax-deductible.
