2 injured in crash on I-35

Two people were injured early Sunday morning after a vehicle reportedly lost control on an icy portion of Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea and struck another vehicle.
Mary Barlage, 22, and Linda Sabroski, 53, both of Farmington were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea as a precaution for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Minnesota State Patrol reports state Samuel T. Lopez, 47, of Kasson was driving northbound in a 2003 GMC Envoy and attempted to pass a 2004 Dodge Ram, driven by Barlage. Lopez reportedly lost control of his vehicle and struck the pickup.
The Envoy went off the road, down an embankment and came to a rest.
The Dodge Ram also left the roadway but was able to stop halfway down the embankment.
The crash took place at 2:27 a.m.
Lopez and his passenger, along with a second passenger from the pickup, were not injured.
