The wind chill advisory for the Albert Lea area was expected to continue through today as snow moves back into the area.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values were between 25 below and 34 below zero this morning.

The area could see between 1 and 2 inches of snow by this evening, and wind chill readings may drop to around 30 below again tonight into Tuesday morning.

The Weather Service warns that cold air and strong winds can result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

It advised people to wear a hat and gloves if they had to go outside.

Light snow is expected to continue into Wednesday evening, with several inches of accumulation possible.

The Weather Service forecasts single digits for the highs for most of the week with the lows dipping to as cold as 17 below zero on Thursday.

Freeborn, Blue Earth, Waseca, Steele and Faribault counties are affected.
