Make 2014 a year of giving

The “season of giving” may be coming to a close, but the need for generosity is not.
Local organizations such as the Salvation Army, Ecumenical Food Shelf, Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross, Youth for Christ and the United Way rely on donations year-round, and the new year is a great opportunity to resolve to continue giving.
There is no lack of generosity in Freeborn County, but donations tend to fall off in the weeks and months following Christmas. Holiday giving is a great tradition in the area, but it’s time to continue the generosity into 2014 and help organizations make their goals.
This Christmas brought about many outstanding acts of giving and selflessness. The Tribune would like to thank everyone who gave to local organizations this holiday season. Being good Minnesotans, many of you were anonymous and humble in your giving.
Let’s keep the ball rolling into next year.
