Barbara Bolinger, 84, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Barbara J. Bolinger, 84, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Barbara died on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Community.

Barbara Jean Bolinger was born to Orin and Carmen (Amundson) Quam on Sept. 10, 1929, in Freeman Township in her family’s log cabin. She grew up in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, graduating from Lake Mills High School in 1947. On April 11, 1951, Barbara was united in marriage to Verne “Bud” Bolinger at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. Barbara and Bud were charter members of Zion Lutheran Church. She was very active with the American Legion, both as a member of the auxiliary, as an employee and as a volunteer. Barbara was involved in her children’s activities in the community, at school and home. She organized the annual crippled children’s clinic in Albert Lea each year. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and doing crafts.

Survivors include her children Colleen (Peter) Lagomarsino, Brad (Dianna) Bolinger and Karen (Michael) Henry; grandchildren Scott (Jennah) Lagomarsino, Dave (Melissa) Lagomarsino, Ryan Henry, Seth Henry, Jordan Henry, Angie (Jeremy) Mlenar and Catrena (Jesse) Jutz; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Joanne Wangen Fink and Mary (Lynn) Overson; sisters-in-law Phyllis Quam, Janice Quam, Virginia Ackland, Dorothy (John) Gonzales, Vivian Sorenson, Nancy (Jim) Bottelson and Cindy (Jerry) Fenton; brother-in-law, Harold “Hod” (Doris) Bolinger; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verne; son, Richard; brothers Bill, Paul and Gerald; sisters-in-law Ferne Hausman and Francis Rupp; and brothers-in-law Duane Wangen, Roger Fink and Rodger Sorenson.
