The NRHEG boys’ basketball team overpowered Medford 82-62 Friday to win its third straight game.
The Panthers (9-1 overall, 4-0 Gopher Conference) led by four points with 4 minutes left in the first half before pushing their advantage to 16 points before the break, said NRHEG head coach Pat Churchill.
“We didn’t play with much energy in the first half,” he said. “We won the game without playing the best, and sometimes that’s what it takes.”
In the second half, the Panthers extended their lead to 20 points.
NRHEG had three players who scored in double figures. Trevor Tracy led the team with 22 points, Spencer Tollefson had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Oakley Baker was two boards shy of a double-double with 18 points and eight rebounds.
The Panthers hosted Hayfield Saturday. Look for a story with photos from the game in Monday’s Tribune.
NRHEG will play next at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Blue Earth. The Buccaneers (3-6 overall, 2-3 South Central Conference) are coming off a 77-67 home win Friday over St. Peter.
