NORTHWOOD — A Kensett man will be sentenced March 3 on a charge of vehicular homicide in connection with a crash that took the life of a Glenville man.
Michael Scott Chodur, 47, was charged as the result of the crash, which occurred north of Manly on Sept. 2, 2012. Court documents alleged Chodur operated his vehicle under the influence of amphetamines or methamphetamines.
Chodur and Lynn M. Weedman, 57, of Glenville, were eastbound on Worth County Road A39 west of Highway 65 near Manly in 1980 Chevrolet Corvettes when Chodur allegedly rear-ended Weedman’s vehicle, according to the crash report.
According to reports, Weedman’s car went into the north ditch and caught fire, coming to rest on its wheels facing west. Chodur’s car came to rest in the middle of the highway facing east, where it also caught fire.
Weedman died of his injuries three days later on Sept. 5, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Chodur was also injured in the accident.
The written plea of guilty was entered in late November in Worth County District Court, according to court records.
