The Albert Lea girls’ hockey team fought back from a one-goal deficit Saturday at Austin to win 2-1.
Albert Lea head coach Laura Hillman said her team started the game a little rusty but battled back after Austin took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal in the first period.
The duo of Hannah Savelkoul and Anna Anderson teamed up for both of Albert Lea’s goals. Savelkoul scored with a pass from Anderson, and when Anderson scored, Savelkoul was credited with the assist.
Neither team scored in the third period.
Almost a month passed since Albert Lea’s last game.
“It was good to finally get back on the ice and get to play,” Hillman said. “We have about two weeks left in our regular season, and they will be two very busy weeks.”
That’s because the Tigers’ last three games at home against Mankato East and Mankato West and at Winona were postponed.
The game at Winona was rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. today. The game against Mankato West was rescheduled for 5:15 p.m. next Monday, and the game against Mankato East was rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28.
