It’s the dead of winter, however the Albert Lea City Beach will be the place to be this weekend.

The Albert Lea Fountain Lake Sportsmen Club will host its sixth annual Ice Classic ice fishing tournament on Fountain Lake from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $5 per hole and fishing will take place at the city beach, which is located at 300 Johnson Street.

Cash prizes will be given out for the three largest fish caught during the tournament. First place gets $100, second gets $75 and third place will get $50.

Food and beverages will be provided by the VFW and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.

Friday

• “Rich Ohnstad – Sounds of RAHK” will be at the Albert Lea Eagles Club in the evening.

• KB Karaoke will be at the Albert Lea Moose Club at 7 p.m.

• Two live bands will perform at Chubby’s on Broadway. “Angel & Randy” will play from 8 to 9 p.m. and “Moonshine Sorrow” will perform from 9:30 p.m. to close.

 

Saturday

• “That Comedy Show,” which has headliner Isaac Witty featuring Ron Lamprecht, will be at the Albert Lea American Legion from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of the show and can be purchased at the Legion.

• Dance Music by “Rich Ohnstad on State” will be at the Albert Lea Eagles club in the evening.

• KB Karaoke will be at the Albert Lea Moose club at 7 p.m.

 

Sunday

• The Alden-Conger music boosters will host a french toast breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Alden-Conger high school cafeteria. A free-will donation will be accepted. Funds go towards the next band and choir tour.

• There will be a Sunday breakfast at the Albert Lea American Legion from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7; $1 will go to the youth group of your choice.

• Dad’s Belgian Waffles for The Arc will be cooking breakfast at First Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Proceeds from the breakfast will be used for ARC’s programs and activities for people with developmental disabilities.
