The Albert Lea girls’ basketball team crushed Stewartville Thursday to string together two straight wins for the first time this season.
The Tigers led 36-14 at halftime en route to a 67-51 win.
Albert Lea led by as many as 30 points in the first half.
Albert Lea head coach Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa said she was pleased with her team’s intensity on the defensive side of the court, which led to easy scoring opportunities. The Tigers forced 26 turnovers.
“In the first half we got a lot of steals, and we tried working on plays that we needed to work on more,” she said. “Once we got a big lead, it was good to mix it up and get some other players some experience.
Stewartville has an overall record of 2-19.
Albert Lea (8-13 overall, 5-9 Big Nine Conference) will play next at Rochester Century at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Tigers won the first meeting 59-54 Jan. 10 at home.
