Albert Leans woke up this morning to more snow. An inch fell overnight, and another 2 to 4 inches were expected during the day.
But on the bright side, the temperatures are forecast to climb above the freezing mark this week, even if only for a little while each day.
The high for today in Albert Lea, according to the National Weather Service forecast, is 36, for Tuesday 40, for Wednesday 38 and for Thursday 34. KIMT-TV’s forecast is more conservative, calling for a high today of 35, Tuesday 38, Wednesday 32 and Thursday 32.
Tuesday is expected to be clear.
The National Weather Service calls for the dreaded “wintry mix” in Albert Lea on Wednesday night, with a chance of snow on Thursday.
“It’s basically a delayed January thaw,” said Tony Zaleski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
A storm that blew into the state Sunday evening was expected to dump as much as 8 inches of snow in some areas. Most of Minnesota was either in a winter weather advisory for Monday or in a winter storm warning.
Freeborn, Faribault, Steele and Waseca counties were in the winter weather advisory. Mower and Dodge and pretty much the eastern part of Minnesota including the Twin Cities were in the warning. The advisory was set to end at noon today. The warning, where the heaviest amounts were expected, ends at 3 p.m.
