United South Central senior forward Val Sahr was named Tuesday girls’ basketball Associated Press All-State honorable mention.
Sahr led the Rebels to a school-record 21 wins this season and the program’s first Gopher Conference championship. Sahr finished the season averaging double digits in scoring and rebounding and was named Gopher All-Conference for the fourth time.
“It feels pretty good,” Sahr said, of the honor. “It’s a good little addition to the other things I’ve received.”
Sahr finished her career at USC with 1,194 points and a school-record 1,053 rebounds. She also holds school records for rebounds in a season (293) and rebounds in a game (21).
Sahr also ranks second all-time in career steals (190) and second all-time in career assists (224) and blocks (97).
“I’m proud to look back and know that I worked hard,” Sahr said. “And helped others work hard along the way.”
In the fall, Sahr plans on attending and playing basketball at Minnesota Southwest State University in Marshall.
