Dean Paape, 79, rural Hayfield

Dean Leonard Paape, 79, of rural Hayfield, died at Austin Medical Center Tuesday morning, March 22, 2011.
He was born July 24, 1931, to Edwin Carl and Marie Anna (Anderson) Paape in Waltham Township, Mower County, where he attended District 110 country school. Dean was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in rural Waltham where he was a lifelong member. After completing his education, he farmed with his father in Waltham Township.
He married Irene Bernice Ziebell on May 7, 1960, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Myrtle. In 1988, Dean went to work for Owatonna Canning Company until his retirement in 2008. He served on the Endowment Committee at church and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, woodworking and welding.
Dean is survived by his wife, Irene of rural Hayfield; two daughters, Connie Paape of Burnsville and Glenda (Eric) Watry of Shakopee; two grandchildren, Dean Eric Watry and Danielle Spencer Watry; sister, Lotus (Tom) Hanson of Hayfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, with Pastor John Heruth officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Waltham.
